Overview

The position is responsible for utilizing component design software (e.g. Mitek) and construction documents to create preliminary designs to be used for the estimate of roof, open web floor, and wall panels. At times estimates will be produced by designing a portion of the project using sectional analysis and extrapolating to spreadsheet software.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Create component estimates from construction documents
  • Communicate and coordinate efforts of other estimating departments
  • Review construction drawings and specifications
  • Communicate with store salespeople and construction professionals

Supervisory Responsibility
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This position is located in a busy office area and is faced with constant interruptions on a regular basis. There is low to moderate exposure to common offices sounds such as ringing phones, talking, printers, copy machines and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This position involves frequent sitting, use of hands and reaching with hands and arms. Rarely this position stands.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work depends on hours of operations, 45 hours per week.

Travel
Limited travel is expected for this position.


Qualifications

Competencies

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish fats, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to read and comprehend commercial construction documents (i.e. policy and procedure manuals), write routine reports and correspondence, and speak/present in front of a small group.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, MiTek

Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training.
