Department: 7th Floor Surgical Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192 Schedule:36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation Shift:7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3x12 hours shifts) Are you passionate about patient care and looking to grow in a dynamic, supportive healthcare environment? As aNurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience. ABOUT OUR UNIT: Join our fast-paced 23-bed surgical unit, caring for post-operative patients who do not require telemetry. Our team specializes in hip and knee replacements, spine and orthopedic procedures, bariatrics, hysterectomies, general surgeries, and trauma cases. As a Center of Excellence for Orthopedics and Bariatrics, we offer a strong rapid recovery program-many joint replacement patients return home the day after surgery. This is a great opportunity to build your skills on a high-performing, patient-centered team. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Your day-to-day impact includes: Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks. Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN. Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort. Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)). Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing. Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license Medical Assistant program (with or without experience). At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment. Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment. Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
