This position will own, lead and have direct responsibility for all Meijer credit card and gift card portfolios, as well as Meijer store front end marketing services which includes portfolio strategy, end to end design and delivery of highly effective marketing strategies and campaigns, and leadership responsibility for the Meijer credit and gift card team members along with multiple partnership resources throughout our card programs. This role will have ownership of customer acquisition, growth and retention along with total portfolio performance as to profitable sales, margin and customer loyalty.
What You'll be Doing:
- Own and provide thought leadership in the overall design and development of highly effective portfolio growth strategies, programs and tactics.
- Identify and initiate strategies and tactics to drive sales, increase program visibility and create a best in class experience for card customers.
- Lead a high-performance credit card card team, comprised of Meijer and partnership teams with credit management, financial, marketing and data analytics skills.
- Position the team for success and career advancement through effective modeling, mentoring and coaching.
- Develop and nurture leadership-level, cross functional relationships and provide collaborative leadership, enabling the team to work effectively with Merchandising, Store Operations, Marketing, Meijer.com, IT, Legal and other relevant teams.
- Identify and leverage all current marketing capabilities to create a seamless promotional experience while maximizing sales, profits, and customer engagement.
- Initiate and lead continuous advancement in the implementation and use of automated systems to deploy and manage promotional activity.
- Initiate, design and develop effective strategies and 1:1 marketing programs to increase credit card and marketing services spend.
- Design, develop and communicate credit dashboards to measure KPIs.
- Own and drive effective and productive relationships with all strategic business partners across credit, gift card and marketing services.
- Identify and secure leading external service providers, where appropriate, to ensure the credit business is continually exploring new processes and tools to better engage customers and achieve sustainable competitive advantages.
- Collaborate closely with all business partners to improve customer relationships and solve complex business problems.
- Develop, direct and communicate key fundamentals of the credit financial budgets, cost projections, performance and key trends.
- Initiate and develop strategic industry relationships to drive awareness of credit 'best practices' from a wide range of industries and businesses.
What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years business experience in Finance, Marketing, Fleet or Credit Card Portfolio Management, including leadership roles.
- Experience successfully managing teams and cross-functional partner relationships.
- Experience in analytic techniques applied to customer valuation, marketing ROI, design of experiment, and segmentation.
- Knowledge of Software - Microsoft Office, Microstrategy.
- Experience in customer-facing industry (traditional or online retailing, retail financial services, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and profitably grow customer portfolios, segments or have proven marketing strategy & planning experience.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and grow a talented team through effective recruiting, leadership, coaching and mentoring.
- Ability to drive cross-enterprise change and influence individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Exceptional ability to extract strategic insights from large data sets.
- In-depth understanding of customer segmentation methods.
- Strong problem solving ability and dealing with ambiguity.
- Experienced in customer dispute resolution and root cause resolution.
- Strong work ethic complemented by a positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent communication skills: listening, verbal and written.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications, Microstrategy.
- Experience developing communications and presenting to leadership.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple/competing projects and assignments.
- Strong written, editing, proofreading and oral communication skills; attention to detail with an ability to meet tight timelines while maintaining a positive attitude.
