The mission of the Department of Middle and Secondary Education [ MSE] is to engage in research and scholarly activity, teaching, and service in urban environments with people from multiple racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Degree program offerings include well-established PhD and EdD programs, as well as MAT programs at the middle and secondary levels and MEd programs in STEM education, literacy education, and mathematics education. We also offer a BSE degree program at the middle level. Courses are offered in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Our nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty are among the leading researchers and teacher educators in their fields. MSE faculty, staff, and students work collaboratively with schools, communities, and organizations locally, nationally, and internationally. The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to social studies education at the middle and secondary school levels. The successful applicant will work closely within the Master of Arts in Teaching ( MAT) programs in secondary and middle-level social studies education. These programs lead to initial teacher certification in grades 6-12 (secondary) and grades 4-8 (middle-level).

Earned doctorate in Social Studies Education or a closely related field

A criminal background check is required.

Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations).
