The School's mission is to lead innovation in human-centered information and computing technologies, understand their economic and social significance, and develop an educated workforce to further advance technology. With approximately 4,000 undergraduates, 600 master's students, 400 doctoral students, 100 faculty members, and 85 staff, the School is the largest computing program within the UC system and one of the largest in the nation, providing exceptional opportunities for discovery and learning in all areas of information and computer sciences. The Department of Informatics at UC Irvine anticipates openings for appointments in the Specialist Series. Specialists may engage in any specialized research, professional activity, and University and/or public service. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community. Specialists may participate in University and/or public service depending upon funding source and the duties required by the job description for the position. Positions may be full or part-time and may be with/without salary. Initial appointments are typically one year. Salary is commensurate with experience.
