Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists is looking for a Front Desk/Scheduler to join our team! This position will work and support our Houston West location.

What does a Front Desk/Scheduler do?

Responsible for the coordination and operation of the Front Office functions. Acts as liaison with physicians, patients and other office staff. Responsible for assisting in the development of and administration of office policies and procedures. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Oversees all front office functions. Answers phones & Schedules for both in office visits and surgeries. Will assist provider when/if necessary, from obtaining vitals to chaperoning. Aids and coverage for front office functions as required. Will assist medical assistant by requesting medical records from all new patients. Will pick up all mail on a weekly basis (if not sooner). Will order office supplies when/if needed. With direction provider will schedule follow up visits and inform patients of items to bring, i.e. lab results, imaging disc.
  • Maintains a friendly and professional demeanor towards patients. Hands over a tablet for in person check-in if not completed day prior to arrival.
  • Coordinates office procedures with front office, medical staff, and billing office to ensure smooth flow of information within departments.
  • Participates in the completion of month-end close checklist for all assigned items to ensure meeting or exceeding corporate timelines. This includes PMD and missing charges report to mention a few examples.
  • Will collect all balances prior to visit or surgery. Only collects in the form of Credit or Debit cards.
  • Reviews all attorney requests and records to ensure proper authorization has been obtained and all documentation is present.
  • Oversees insurance verification process, in addition to patient financial counseling to ensure patients are apprised of financial obligations.
  • Ensures that authorizations and referrals are obtained in a timely manner.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for theFront Desk/Scheduler rolewill have the following background and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of medical office experience.
  • Bilingual: fluent in English and either Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese.

Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
