We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead our efforts in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our software systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in software engineering, a deep understanding of reliability principles, and proven leadership skills to drive excellence in our SRE practices.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of highly skilled SREs, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the SRE team.
    • Drive recruitment efforts to build a high-performing and diverse SRE team.
  • Reliability Engineering:
    • Define and Drive a Reliability Engineering roadmap balanced across Observability, Runtime automated protections and software engineering standards to ensure Production readiness for applications.
    • Establish and promote best practices for building scalable and reliable software systems.
    • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate reliability engineering principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
    • Define and measure key reliability metrics, continuously striving to improve system reliability.
  • Automation and Tooling:
    • Drive the automation of operational tasks to streamline processes and enhance system scalability.
    • Evaluate, implement, and optimize tools and technologies that support SRE objectives.
  • Monitoring and Alerting:
    • Oversee the design and implementation of effective monitoring and alerting systems.
    • Ensure proactive identification and resolution of potential issues before they impact system performance.
  • Capacity Planning:
    • Work closely with infrastructure and capacity planning teams to anticipate and address resource constraints.
    • Develop strategies to scale systems in response to growing demand.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Collaborate with development, QA, and product management teams to ensure reliability considerations are integrated into the software development process.
    • Foster a culture of shared responsibility for system reliability across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years in a management level role focused on software reliability engineering.
  • Strong background in software development and system architecture.
  • Expertise in implementing and managing SRE best practices.
  • Strong background in Cloud infrastructure, OaC (Observability as Code) and resilience patterns
  • Experience with incident management and post-incident analysis.
  • Proficiency in automation, scripting, and programming languages.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Target Compensation: A competitive base salary range from $153,247 - $224,763 .This position is eligible for an annual variable bonus of cash and equity, between 15-30%.Final compensation within the range is influenced by many factors including role-specific skills, depth and experience level, industry background, relevant education and certifications.

Candidates who reside in the following major metropolitan areas may be eligible for a premium on top of the posted range based on their specific zone: San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and San Diego.
