About the Role
We are looking for an Analytical Chemist to join the Analytical Services Team. This is an entry level position where you will provide chemical and material analytical testing services. It is a hands-on testing role in a regulated environment requiring quick turnaround times while executing high-quality work. This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Test materials, components, and/or medical devices following procedural guidance using a variety of analytical techniques available in the laboratory
- Collaborate with other laboratory scientists and New Product Development associates to determine testing strategies and plans
- Document procedures, test methods, observations, results, and other records in a quality system or technical notebook
- Effectively communicate test information to New Product Development associates or other parties of interest
- Perform general lab support duties such as ordering supplies, laboratory cleaning, glassware washing, media/reagent preparation, and equipment maintenance
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workplace
- Participate in continuous laboratory improvement efforts, including driving document changes in a quality system
- Maintain compliance with training expectations as required for this position
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline and minimum 1 year professional or graduate level lab experience
- Ability to work with a variety of laboratory instruments, software, supplies, and reagents
- Ability to independently manage testing and project work to completion in a timely manner
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with team members for test planning and reporting of results
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling and ability to follow established safety practices
- Proficiency in typical office computer software such as MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work within a continuously changing environment, meet tight deadlines, and be motivated to provide excellent customer service
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in one or more of the following analytical techniques: GC-FID, LC-UV, GPC, ICP, FTIR, DSC, TGA
- Experience writing technical documents, preferably within a quality system environment
- Ability to design and execute experiments and analyze data, including test method development and validation
