UTeach at UT Austin includes the innovative UTeach STEM teacher preparation program, a national expansion effort for that program, teacher professional development, and several local STEM education initiatives, all supporting the improvement of STEM education and the public education system overall.

The UTeach Institute serves as the hub to a vibrant national community of practice of more than 700 college and university STEM education experts at 53 US universities and 6,000 K-12 STEM teachers. We develop innovative K-12 coursework and teacher professional learning that strengthens STEM teacher effectiveness and engagement and preparation of K-12 students across STEM disciplines. Purpose

To coordinate activities related to data management, research, and evaluation services for the UTeach Institute. This position is situated in the UTeach Expansion team but also supports other UTeach initiatives, and reports to the Assistant Director of Higher Education Initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Web-based Applications Administration. Administer and support Qualtrics survey system for multiple projects across internal UTeachstakeholders. Administer and support Salesforce database application across various UTeach initiatives. Develop and maintain user-friendly data interfaces including reporting and data dashboards.

  • Data Collection, Management, and Analyses. Clean, process, and check for accuracy incoming data from partner programs into various UTeach data management systems. Coordinate the development, utilization, and maintenance of this data in accordance with the needs and strategic objectives of UTeach Institute. Direct and create data management procedures in terms of procurement, security, processing, validity, and accuracy that reflect the work of the national UTeach network. Supervise the Data and Evaluation team and lead the team in strategic evaluation initiatives, timelines, and data collection activities. Lead annual graduate tracking project in design and implementation of processes to successfully collect annual employment and credential information for UTeach graduates nationwide. Support data collection, analysis, and reporting activities for other initiatives of the UTeach Institute, including but not limited to K-12 Professional Development efforts.

  • Evaluation and Research Support. Contribute to the design and implementation of research and evaluation projects. Design, implement, and test quantitative and qualitative data collection protocols (i.e., surveys, interviews, focus groups) and processes to ensure accurate, systematic, and continuous collection of longitudinal data for multiple projects. Prepare Institutional Review Board study proposal submissions and maintain continuing reviews for projects across UTeach. Lead the process for the UTeach Institute of creating and maintaining Confidential Data Control Plans and Data Use Agreements with UTeach program implementation partners.

  • Workcollaboratively across teams toensure operations andprogramactivities are effectively executed (i.e. attend and assist with select workshops, meetings, site visits, and conferences) and adhere to The University of Texas guidelines and internal policies. Contribute tothedevelopment of a positive and productive workplace culture and provide timely information regarding data and evaluation as inquiries arise. Plan for and Attend Professional Development activities that support the strategic growth, productivity, and mission of the organization.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in education, mathematics, data sciences, science, or related field.

  • Three years of successful, relevant work experience.

  • Strong project management, communication, data collection, database management, and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

  • Familiarity and knowledge of relational database structures.

  • Experience designing and coordinating the execution of evaluation plans to support continuous improvement.

  • Ability to lead a team and work well both independently and collaboratively across teams.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned Doctoral degree from an accredited university or college in education, mathematics, data sciences, science, or related field.

  • Five years of successful, relevant work experience.

  • Experience leading a team in strategic evaluation initiatives.

  • Experience with or knowledge of the UTeach STEM teacher preparation program and program development and expansion.

  • Experience or strong interest in STEM Education research.

  • Experience with or knowledge of secondary STEM teacher preparation.

  • Experience with administration roles in Salesforce and Qualtrics.

  • Proficiency with inferential statistics

  • Experience with statistical analysis software.

  • Project management experience involving planning, logistics, data collection, outcomes, and evaluation.

  • Experience as a technical assistance provider focused on relationship-building to improve national partner data and evaluation support services.

Salary Range

$75,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Exposure to standard office conditions. In/out-of-state travel up to 10% of the time, with peak travel times during the spring and fall semesters.
