As a Manufacturing Design Engineer - Laser Systems, you'll be at the forefront of developing and refining cutting-edge laser technologies that power next-generation products.     Job Duties, but not limited to:

    • Be the Laser Expert: Own the build and optimization of laser and optical systems for manufacturing, NPI (New Product Introduction), and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Solve Real-World Problems: Collaborate with CTO, manufacturing, and field service teams to solve critical laser performance issues and drive actionable solutions.
    • Engineer with Precision: Develop and refine build sequences for crystal conditioning, laser alignment, system calibration, and qualification to meet performance and cycle time goals.
    • Drive Data-Backed Decisions: Analyze manufacturing data using statistical process control to improve yields, processes, and product design.
    • Lead Root Cause Analysis: Investigate failures from manufacturing and field returns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Collaborate Across Borders: Work with global teams to support product transfers, supplier quality, and multi-functional design goals.
    • Champion Documentation & Training: Create clear, effective documentation and train technicians to ensure process consistency and excellence.
    • Lead with Impact: Drive small multi-functional teams to resolve optics/system-level issues using structured problem-solving methods like 7-Step.

    Qualifications, but not limited to:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related technical field (required).
    • Experience & Skills:
    • Strong understanding of laser systems, optics, and their interaction with electronics and mechanical components.
    • Hands-on experience with crystal testing, laser alignment, and optical component qualification.
    • Familiarity with DUV optics cleanliness and handling protocols.
    • Proven track record to lead root cause investigations and apply structured problem-solving (7-Step, DOE, etc.).
    • Excellent interpersonal skills across technical and cultural boundaries.
    • Experience with solid-state crystal growth is a plus.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelors Degree and minimum of 5 years proven experience or Masters and minimum of 3 years proven experience.

    Base Pay Range: $105,300.00 - $179,000.00 Annually Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA KLA's total rewards package for employees may also include participation in performance incentive programs and eligibility for additional benefits including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life, and other voluntary benefits, 401(K) including company matching, employee stock purchase program (ESPP), student debt assistance, tuition reimbursement program, development and career growth opportunities and programs, financial planning benefits, wellness benefits including an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off and paid company holidays, and family care and bonding leave.

    Interns are eligible for some of the benefits listed. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed reflects the pay for this position in the primary location identified in this posting.
