Position Summary:

The Associate Cost Analyst under direction of Supervisor and team members will execute clearly defined activities to ensure accurate financial and margin results through the proper assignment of cost factors, sales and purchase agreements to drive profitable case growth of products. Executes activities to minimize all purchasing cost issues such as PO/Invoice errors, repayments, credit claims, and samples. May serve as a frontline resource for solving vendor service and quality issues.

What you will do:

  • Communication & Relationship-Building

    • Collaborates with the Category Management Team alongside another Cost Team Member during the analysis of vendor cost changes.

    • Learns to collaborate with the Category Management Team and the Vendor Receivables Team to execute the accurate and timely implementation of vendor purchasing agreements.

    • Works with Supervisor to collect and communicate relevant information to support marketing, bids, buyers, and supply chain analysts.

    • Develops relationships with A/P and V/R on cost and repay issue resolution with the assistance of a Cost Team member.

    • Collaborates and learns how to properly support National and Divisional Sales Teams as necessary.

    • Alongside an experienced Cost Team member they will support the Lead Category Buyer to develop background data for formulas and cost models in category market reviews.

    • Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas

  • General

    • Provides analysis and recommendations to experienced members of the Cost Team to potentially assist in the approval of cost changes in collaboration with Category Management Teams.

    • Responsible for the maintenance of all cost factors with oversight.

    • Analyst will support with oversight all GFS plants across North America: Responsible for accurate implementation and maintenance of Invoice cost and Other Cost factors in the GFS ERP System. Supports stocked, special order, EPO and JIT items across all GFS broadline divisions. Will support stores in the US.

    • Responsible for managing costs on GFS's purchase orders via EDI confirmations and non EDI confirmations.

    • Works with Accounts Payable and vendor community to resolve any cost related discrepancies between a GFS purchase order and a vendor invoice with insight for experienced team members.

    • Monitors and executes plans to improve vendors VIP results while learning about the VIP program.

    • Supports new vendor and item setup as required.

    • Under supervision of experienced team members they are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of long term purchasing agreements in collaboration with the National Category and Vendor Receivables Team.

    • Supports growth and accuracy in margin through being introduced to the continuous audit process of vendor agreements.

    • Develops knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc.

    • Performs other duties as assigned to aid in development and introduction to their role as well as the business and culture of GFS.

When you will work:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

  • Hybrid Work Schedule: 4 days in office, 1 day from home.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Fewer than 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field.

  • This position requires general math aptitude, problem solving abilities, and detail orientation with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Must be able to problem solve, accept and accomplish multiple and diverse assignments.

  • Must have a good proactive and positive attitude, with a commitment to personal and professional success. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Must have a professional demeanor, honesty, integrity, drive, tenacity, determination, and a willingness to learn.
