Position Summary

The Sr Director of Public Sector Strategic Accounts is a key leadership role within the MillerKnoll Public Sector team, responsible for leading a team of sales professionals focused on the company's most important and complex public sector customers. This team targets top strategic accounts across Federal, State & Local Government, Higher Education, and Healthcare, regardless of geography. The Sr Director will develop and execute account strategies to win new business, expand existing relationships, and defend competitively held accounts.

This role requires a proven sales leader who excels at coaching, mentoring, and developing talent while building scalable strategies for long-term growth. The Sr Director will collaborate closely with regional sales leaders, dealer principals, and distribution partners to ensure alignment and execution across the strategic account portfolio. As a member of the Public Sector Sales Leadership Team, the Sr Director will help shape overall public sector strategy and ensure best-in-class execution at the account level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Strategic Account Managers and/or Program Managers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Develop and implement account strategies for winning, growing, and defending top public sector accounts across Federal, State & Local, Higher Education, and Healthcare markets.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Directors and their teams to ensure alignment between strategic account initiatives and local market activities.
  • Build strong relationships with dealer principals and distribution partners to drive joint strategic account planning and execution.
  • Collaborate across functions (marketing, product, operations, pricing, legal) to ensure account strategies are well-supported and resourced.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and adjust strategies to position MillerKnoll as the partner of choice for public sector clients.
  • Track, measure, and report on account performance, pipeline development, and sales results.
  • Contribute as an active member of the Public Sector Sales Leadership Team to broader strategy, talent development, and market planning.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of sales experience with a track record of success in account management, strategic selling, or business development; public sector experience strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience leading high-performing sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of the public sector procurement landscape across federal, state/local, higher education, and healthcare.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategies to win new accounts and expand existing ones.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and talent development skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build trusted partnerships internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and executive relationship skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

A starting compensation range for this role is $121,900.00 - $158,500.00. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
