This position is internal to University of Colorado ORP retirees.

Job Summary:

This position will be in the Section of Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow transplantation (BMT) at the Professor level, working in the clinical service area of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD). The duties are in the Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant outpatient setting, which includes our pediatric outpatient infusion center, seeing patients across a range of diagnoses and conditions. This is a flex position with no guaranteed or required number of hours/shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent care of pediatric hematology-oncology and BMT patients in the outpatient setting, including the outpatient infusion service.

  • Perform evaluation of patients outside of CCBD scope, as requested by nursing staff, medical residents, and other providers.

  • Participate in rapid response team evaluations and respond to urgent medical situations as needed and requested by team members.

  • Participate in end-of-day or end-of-shift sign-out with residents and fellows, if present, other attending physicians, and nursing staff members, to ensure quality transitions of care.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Continuous Maintenance of Certification is required.

  • Active Colorado state license and DEA certification.

  • 15+ years of experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

  • Active credentials at Children's Hospital Colorado

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pediatric academic medicine

  • Experience with patients on clinical trials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with staff and faculty within and outside the Section, Department and/or hospital.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, referring providers, and colleagues.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong advocacy skills.

  • Knowledge of best practices in patient safety and quality care.

  • Ability to use the electronic health record to write orders and communications, including diagnostic tests, medications, care instructions, and adding to patients' electronic medical records charting.

  • Timely completion of medical record documentation and billing in accordance with University and hospital standards.

  • Ability to perform selected procedures including but not limited to lumbar punctures with or without intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring rate for this position has been established at $125.15/hour

The above hiring rate represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
