TITLE: Dispatch Manager LOCATION: Houston, TX POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Logistics SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; some overtime, and some weekends may be required. COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience Position Summary: The Dispatch Manager will oversee daily dispatch operations to ensure efficient routing, on-time deliveries, and top-tier customer service. This role requires a strong leader with a focus on team development, compliance, and continuous process improvement. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day dispatch operations, ensuring optimal routing and on-time deliveries.
- Supervise, train, and guide dispatch staff to improve performance and service levels.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Respond to escalated issues and resolve customer or staff complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and terminal managers to align dispatch with business goals.
- Monitor driver performance and ensure dispatchers are addressing inefficiencies.
- Continuously evaluate and improve logistics processes to reduce costs and mitigate risks.
- Foster a positive team environment focused on communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct employee performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Manage dispatch and driver schedules to always ensure adequate coverage.
- Communicate customer requirements and expectations to dispatch and driver teams.
- Enforce and support all company policies and procedures.
- Provide regular updates to the Director of Logistics regarding daily operations.
- Perform other related tasks or projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must live within 60 miles of the Houston location and be willing to work onsite.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in dispatch management or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience managing a dispatch or logistics team.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using transportation management systems, route planning tools, and vehicle telematics.
- Strong knowledge of transportation laws and safety regulations.
- Professional, ethical, and able to work with minimal supervision.
