How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

This position will have responsibility for all (5) Cardiopulmonary Rehab departments throughout Carilion Clinic. Position will be based out of Roanoke but will frequently travel to other sites.

RN with a MSN OR Exercise Physiologist with a Masters Degree OR RRT with a Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred. Exercise Physiologist candidates must be ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP).

At least 5 years management experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehab required.

Provides leadership to all Cardiopulmonary Rehab departments (system-wide). Responsibilities include include strategic planning, development and monitoring of program goals/objectives, quality assurance oversight, budget planning and management of operating costs to include staffing efficiency.

Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals, objectives, and budgets are met.

Works cooperatively with other service line leaders to carry out and monitor new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Positively and appropriately represents Carilion Clinic at public and professional meetings.

Performs significant job responsibilities:

  • Manages multiple departments to assure high quality, cost effective patient care services are provided with a focus on the patient experience.
  • Fosters and promotes program growth and standardized clinical operations/processes as appropriate.
  • Develops goals to support program initiatives and key performance standards.
  • Works with each site to optimize existing programs while fostering an environment of employee and provider engagement.
  • Monitors and assures program compliance with current standards of professional, governmental and regulatory agencies such as AACVPR, CMS, TJC, and prepares for and participates in inspections, surveys, reaccredition process and/or inquiries, providing appropriate documentation as necessary.
  • Collaborates with Administration, Medical Directors and other leaders to drive business excellence, including strategic planning, budget preparation, and effective oversight of resource utilization.
  • Plans the implementation of directives, standard policies and procedures and protocols as approved by senior management or the board of directors.
  • Plans for growth, staffing, services, educational opportunities and effective performance improvement in collaboration with Human Resources. Utilizes developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
  • Provides staff opportunities to develop their maximum potential through professional growth and development including orientation, in service programs and effective performance improvement systems.
  • Supporting CVI service line mission.
What We Require:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent 8 years of experience as RN, RRT or Exercise Physiologist required. Master's degree preferred.

If the area(s) of responsibility employ and have responsibility for supervising RNs, a MSN is required or plan in place with completion date approved by Vice President. and a nursing degree at the minimum of the BSN level is required for Magnet compliance

Experience: 5-7years experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehab or relationed field required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: RN must be currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Exercise Physiologist must be ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP). RRT must be licensed as a respiratory care practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine and be certified as an RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care. All certifications to be maintained ongoing.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Leadership, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple departments and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. Proven skills in clinical, operational and human resource management, including staffing, planning, performance management, team work and process improvement.
