Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (Phlebotomist II) serves as a key point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and compassion during both routine and diagnostic laboratory visits. This position is responsible for collecting quality blood specimens, ensuring specimen integrity, and maintaining compliance with all safety and procedural standards. The PSR II creates a positive patient experience by providing excellent service, demonstrating technical expertise, and maintaining strict confidentiality. Successful candidates may be assigned to a doctor's office, patient service center, or other designated site as needed. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen collection duties accurately and efficiently under the direction of the area supervisor
Collect, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures and safety protocols
Verify patient demographics, confirm labeling accuracy, and ensure specimens are properly identified and documented in the patient's presence
Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence and precision
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards
Uphold organizational policies, procedures, and professional appearance standards
Maintain accurate records and required documentation for all patient interactions and specimen collections
Demonstrate leadership behaviors by promoting teamwork, process excellence, and accountability
Ensure strong communication and collaboration with patients, colleagues, and supervisors
Support coverage needs across multiple locations and adapt to changing priorities as required
Job Requirements
Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record required
Must be willing and able to travel between assigned locations, sometimes with minimal notice
Strong decision-making skills and good judgment based on established procedures
Commitment to company policies, including dress code, safety standards, and Everyday Excellence guiding principles
Superior customer service focus with the ability to communicate clearly, adapt to change, and manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry required
Must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the assigned work location
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
At least 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting preferred
