About the role:

The Associate Project Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of Finance systems projects. This individual will partner directly with the IT Finance portfolio manager, program managers, functional managers, and vendors to ensure efficient and high-quality project delivery.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a Hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Marlborough, MA office at least 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Estimates IT programs/projects: Establishes estimates and ensures clear project definition, proposal, and plan.
  • Manages projects: Develops project plans and estimates outlining work plans, timelines, roles and resources; Leads cross-functional project team functional experts and business partners; Ensures team progress to ensure achievement of all milestones and deliverables while managing risks and issues; Provides updates to management and all stakeholders of progress through frequent communications of findings at regular intervals via reports and meetings.
  • Manages multiple overlapping complex projects in parallel over varying durations. Seek and flag risks as they occur and source any expertise not readily available.
  • Develops recommendations: Develops and delivers project recommendations to management and all stakeholders; Presents changes in IT program/project including technology selection and development, total cost of ownership and ability to drive business outcomes; Develops implementation strategy.
  • Manages implementation of projects: Develops implementation plan outlining work plans, timelines, roles and resources; Identifies and leads implementation team including local business and IT representatives; Works with functional team members to ensure that all supporting infrastructure including program guidelines, processes, training programs, organizational structure and new roles are developed and communicated.
  • Leads the work of employees assigned to the project from technical and business partners to build a high performing team.
  • Manages project budget, and development and manages schedules and performance standards, tracking accountability of team to objectives.
  • Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge. May mentor more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques.
  • Apply tactical skills in: Managing day-to-day goals & activities, focusing on execution. People: Assigning individuals or teams with domain expertise to specific actions. Meeting Specific Objectives (Hitting Milestones & Release Dates) over short & medium duration projects.
  • Participates in external project management organizations, conferences, and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management.



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of 5+ years of work experience with delivery and support of software development solutions and environments
  • A minimum of 2+ years of leading projects with directing all phases from inception through completion


  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile


  • Understanding and experience providing software solution analysis, project management, and testing leadership


  • Ability to partner with business divisions and functions in delivery


  • Experience delivering and maintaining systems within a medical device or a highly regulated environment


  • Previous experience working in a cross-functional, highly matrixed business environment


  • Ability to identify and implement process improvement opportunities


  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to effectively communicate with leadership


  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills


  • Demonstrates courage in ensuring value-driven solutions are delivered



Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:



  • Project Management certification
  • Experience independently leading SDLC (software development lifecycle)
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g. Oracle Hyperion)
  • Experience implementing integrated systems that span across varied functional planes (e.g. Finance, HR, R&D)

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
