Compliance Analyst (NERC)

Description

The basic function of the Compliance Analyst is to support the NERC compliance programs by conducting detailed reviews and analysis of compliance evidence, report findings and maintaining program documents for Certrec Corporation clients. The Compliance Analyst will report to their supervisor/manager for day-to-day job functions and will report to a Project Manager when working in support of a large project. It is expected that the Compliance Analyst will be responsible for:



  • Producing high-quality compliance deliverables.
  • Coordinating and tracking project tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Handling routine client communications and supporting ongoing client needs.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Communication Skills: must have the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Multi-tasking: must have the ability to simultaneously perform multiple assignments.
  • Interpersonal Skills: team player with ability to interface effectively with different levels of organization both internally and with clients.
  • Computers & Software: basic working knowledge and ability using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Must be able to work independently with some oversight or with a team.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the Compliance Analyst include, but are not limited to:



  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service and high-quality compliance deliverables.
  • Communicating with clients through calls or virtual meetings to support project activities and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ensuring scope changes are not initiated without client approval and performing peer checks to ensure accuracy of work products.
  • Identifying project issues that may affect quality, schedule, or budget and promptly notifying the Supervisor/Manager and Project Manager.
  • Supporting a collaborative team environment and assisting in the mentoring of Associate-level analysts.
  • Participating in occasional onsite client support assignments as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate time entries and maximizing billable time.
  • Gathering, reviewing, and organizing client evidence, including establishing and maintaining structured folders and supporting cleanup within Certrec systems.
  • Developing or updating client-specific procedures, training materials, and related documentation aligned with applicable NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of Internal Compliance Programs (ICPs), audits, and gap analyses, including offering recommendations when appropriate.
  • Researching and analyzing compliance-related questions and assisting with project status updates in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Creating training materials-including desktop guides and videos-and providing instruction on Certrec platforms and tools.
  • Staying current on NERC Reliability Standards and Certrec products and applying this knowledge to project work.
  • Identifying potential business development opportunities during client interactions and sharing leads or client intelligence with the Business Development team.
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures.



Travel

This role may require periodic travel to client locations to support meetings, evidence reviews, onsite activities, or project delivery. Any travel undertaken will follow normal auto and air travel conditions and may involve exposure to varied weather.

Education



  • Required: An associate degree or 60 college credit hours or higher.


Experience



  • Required: 2-5 years of experience in regulatory compliance or related activities in a similar industry.



Physical Requirements



  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally move about the office as needed, if working on office.
