None POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
This position is responsible for supporting the operational efficiency of the calibration laboratory by managing services related to external vendor calibrations. The primary focus includes oversight of external calibration activities, asset management, and quality control processes. The role requires effective collaboration with engineers, technicians, and customers to ensure desired results. The incumbent actively contributes to process improvement initiatives aimed at delivering timely, cost effective, and reliable services. All work is performed in adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) standards/requirements, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. * Lead and coordinate the Factory Process for third-party vendor calibrations in collaboration with the production control clerk and area coordinators, managing over $700K in calibration and repair services annually. Key responsibilities include: * Evaluate and track potential insourcing opportunities and projects in partnership with area coordinators and engineering teams. * Solicit and analyze multiple vendor quotes for outsourced services, as required by project scope and value. * Develop, generate, and monitor weekly performance reports related to outsourced calibration activities. * Audit and maintain the database of approved and qualified suppliers. * Facilitate the selection, qualification, and approval of new vendors in alignment with organizational requirements. * Coordinate the establishment of new service agreements with other agency sites as needed. * Provide budget forecasts and financial estimates for outsourced calibration services to management. * Offer performance feedback and recommendations on suppliers to the manager. * Approve purchase orders within designated signature authority limits. * Process vendor waiver requests to the NASA Technical Representative (TR). * Collaborate directly with customers to coordinate schedules and accommodate special testing needs. * Maintain comprehensive records and report on factory trends, including repair costs and service metrics. * Perform daily Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QC/QA) inspections for the factory process and supports other QC/QA lead inspectors as requested, ensuring all outgoing materials meet established performance standards: o QC Audit o QC Documentation * Lead and coordinate the Factory Process for third-party vendor calibrations in collaboration with the production control clerk and area coordinators, managing over $700K in calibration and repair services annually. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Proven knowledge of metrology principles, products, and calibration equipment. * Strong business acumen. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with Total Quality (TQ), Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies preferred. * Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, formatting, and basic macros. * Familiarity with MET/TEAM or similar asset management and calibration tracking software. Preferred Qualifications or Skills Associate degree or technical certification in a relevant discipline, with 2 to 4 years of experience in purchasing, logistics, or a metrology-related environment; equivalent military training will also be considered. In lieu of formal education, a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in purchasing or vendor management is acceptable.
