Summary of Position

We are seeking a visionary Clinical Director, Mental Health Clinical Care Model Design and Quality mental health clinician to lead our strategic initiatives in clinical care model design, quality improvement, and patient safety. This role will be instrumental in shaping the future of virtual mental health care at Teladoc Health, particularly within our U.S. Group Health Business, driving clinical excellence across our existing therapy services and seamlessly integrating mental health across our expansive ecosystem of virtual primary care, chronic condition management, urgent care, expert medical services, and more.

This is a high-impact individual contributor leadership role that requires both deep clinical expertise and strategic business acumen to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of virtual and digital mental health, integrated care delivery, and value-based healthcare partnerships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Care Model Design

  • Serve as the lead for clinical care model design and optimization, in collaboration with Clinical Operations, for new and existing core mental health capabilities and services within the U.S. Group Health (USGH) business unit.

  • Lead clinical workstreams to design, pilot, and scale innovative mental health models of care for integrated care delivery, particularly in virtual primary care and chronic condition management.

  • Translate population health data and clinical evidence into actionable program strategies.

  • Help define success metrics, monitor outcomes, and adapt strategies for sustained impact.

  • Partner with leadership to align mental health strategy with enterprise clinical objectives.

Clinical Quality and Patient Safety

  • Develop and refine mental health clinical quality frameworks, measures, and reporting centered around the Institute of Medicine domains of quality: safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, efficiency, timeliness, and equity.

  • Lead formal quality improvement (QI) projects using the Model for Improvement with a focus on process and outcome metric development and measurement, leveraging statistical process control (SPC) as applicable, particularly in advancing measurement-based care practices.

  • Align and optimize quality assurance (QA) programs for ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations (OPPE/FPPE) in collaboration with integrated care delivery Medical Directors and RNs.

  • Serve as the mental health clinical subject matter expert for our Patient Safety team around safety event classification and adverse event investigations and help drive action plans with cross-functional teammates.

External Engagement, Thought Leadership, Clinical Research

  • Act as a clinical subject matter expert in client discussions, webinars, industry forums, and publications.

  • Represent the organization externally, articulating its leadership in mental health quality and innovation.

  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and client-facing teams, joining high impact sales presentations and client business reviews, as appropriate.

  • In partnership with our clinical research and data teams, participate in leading and developing compelling clinical research for our mental health programs suitable for peer-reviewed publication.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work across Clinical Operations, Product Management, Data Science, Engineering, Commercial, Marketing teams, and others to integrate clinical priorities into enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications Expected for Position

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in psychology or medical degree in psychiatry; active license preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of clinical experience, including delivery of virtual mental health care.
  • Track record of working in high growth virtual care, digital health, or health care technology settings and comfort level with the pace of change and level of ambiguity that often accompanies this.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical quality improvement, outcome measurement, and evidence-based practice clinical care model design and implementation.
  • Proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with clinical and non-clinical operational teams, product management, engineering, commercial and marketing teams in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Strong prioritization, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments with multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate complex clinical concepts to non-clinical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Published research in virtual or digital mental health or related fields.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical decision support systems, machine learning applications in healthcare, and/or health informatics.

The base salary range for this position is$160,000 - $180,000.In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here:Teladoc Health Benefits 2025.Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
