Compensation for this position is $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Interface with clients to understand their business activities, workflows, needs and requirements; determine how GIS technology can help meet those requirements; and formulate and implement cost-effective GIS-based solutions.
  • Manage tasks that pertain to geographic data development, maintenance, analysis, and custom geospatial applications.
  • Assist project managers with the project lifecycle, including formulating and implementing project plans/scopes and managing task-based work; monitoring and communicating task progress and risks to the project manager; and supporting project close out.
  • Provide input on the design of GIS-based software applications and certify that applications meet requirements prior to deployment.
  • Develop and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools for data migration.
  • Manage versioned geodatabases (branch and traditional) and reconcile/post edits with the default/parent version resolving possible conflicts.
  • Manage junior GIS professionals and delegate tasks across project teams to accomplish tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Perform regular quality control checks of spatial and non-spatial datasets to ensure data integrity.
  • Utilize analysis capabilities within ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Portal and ArcGIS Online to perform complex and advanced spatial analyses and distill results into formats that are easy to comprehend.
  • Develop training programs, provide end user training, and develop technical documentation.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote efficient and effective ways to execute GIS tasks. Provide personnel supervision as needed.
  • Effectively present, communicate, and articulate technical information to all levels of the organization, including customers, colleagues, and senior leadership.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the solutions and services that the Technology Group can provide and identify opportunities to expand the services provided to existing customers.
  • Participate in business development by attending and presenting at industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information to the team on market trends.
  • Contribute to proposal development by providing technical approaches.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including geospatial data creation, conversion, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency with the ESRI suite of tools and applications. Working knowledge of all ESRI Online applications such as Field Maps, Survey123, Experience Builder, Operations Dashboard and ArcGIS Hub.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound independent decisions within established guidelines.
  • Experience with geodatabase administration principles and demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute GIS-related tasks efficiently and effectively while meeting customer requirements.
  • Ability to strategically plan and help customers realize their vision through the achievement of small goals.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience using GIS to collect and manage assets.
  • Experience using GPS technologies and mobile data collection tools.
  • Ability to establish, implement, and review policies and procedures related to data creation and maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively and effectively with project team members and customers and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong oral and written skills. Ability to present technical information to various levels of an organization.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Access.


Preferred Skills



  • Proficiency with Autodesk or MicroStation products.
  • Proficiency in performing data translation with Safe Software FME or Esri Data Interoperability tools.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x administration.
  • Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) concepts and software.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, engineering, planning or related field.
  • Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in the application of GIS technology to solve clients' needs.
  • Minimum of two years of experience overseeing others in the delivery and execution of GIS solutions.
  • Experience using Esri's latest suite of technology, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.


Preferred Experience



  • Master's degree in geography, computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field
  • Certified Associate Project Management (CAPM) certification
  • Business development experience
  • Experience working with Enterprise Asset Management software (i.e. Maximo, Infor, AssetWorks, etc.)


Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
