The IT Manager will provide leadership and coordination for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) desktop support team, consisting of 11 technicians serving faculty, staff, and students across campus buildings and Agricultural Research Stations. This position will oversee daily service delivery, ensure consistent use of IT service management processes, and foster collaboration within and across cohorts of desktop support staff.

The IT Manager will be responsible for setting priorities, mentoring staff, and serving as the escalation point for complex technical or service issues. In partnership with the CALS IT Director and other service leaders, the manager will help implement standardized tools, knowledge management practices, and customer service approaches that align with CALS' mission of supporting teaching, research, and outreach.

This role requires balancing operational oversight with staff development, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement to ensure CALS faculty and staff receive responsive and professional IT support.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding information technology operations and functions
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Creates and monitors the budget and approves expenditures
  • Develops, plans, and directs staff implementation of information technology
  • Evaluates existing strategy and makes recommendations to information technology leadership for program enhancement
  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised information technology operational policies and procedures

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Required Qualifications:

  • Experience providing formal supervision or leadership to a team of multiple IT staff
  • Direct experience providing desktop support and service delivery
  • Coordinating, organizing and managing competing priorities
  • Experience working with enterprise endpoint management & security platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience supporting an organization with change management and continuous improvement
  • Operational use of IT Service Management (ITSM) practices and tools

Education:

Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
