What to Expect

Tesla's Cathode Advanced Manufacturing group is looking for a highly motivated cross functional engineer to help scale equipment and processes for novel battery materials. The role will focus on the implementation of new unit operations at the pilot scale with an emphasis on transferability to commercial scale production.


What You'll Do
  • Develop new process and equipment strategies to enable and optimize novel cathode manufacturing strategies for scalability
  • Use engineering fundamentals, analysis, and design tools to create design concepts for robust machine designs that enable the study of critical performance parameters
  • Create and present detailed design and integration packages for project execution and delivery including PFD, P&ID and mechanical layouts
  • Develop, transfer and manage scope deliverables using internal and 3rdparty resources
  • Author and lead commissioning and experimentation exercises for ramp and SOP of pilot equipment, and execute hands-on trouble shooting/RCA activities on chemical, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Communicate project and development outcomes across executive and partnered manufacturing teams, and author knowledge transfer documentation

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution and 5+ years of design experience, or equivalent experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize equipment configurations
  • Proficiency in using solid modeling CAD design software is advantageous (SolidWorks highly preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with specific ability to write at a professional and technical level
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong awareness of manufacturing and fabrication methodology
  • Familiarity with bulk solids handling and experience with powder process technology

    Expected Compensation
    $80,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
