PAY GRADE: NC1-206

PAY RATE: $50,814-$60,986

JOB SUMMARY

The Music & Gospel Fine Arts Manager is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of all program development, implementation and ongoing operations related to the Music/Fine Arts programming of the Kroc Center. The Music and Gospel Fine Arts Manager will create a vibrant variety of music gospel programming leading to practical lessons and performances, which will enhance mission integration and promote the Kroc Center of The Salvation Army. This position is a key member of the program team and serves under the leadership of the Arts and Education Director

OUTCOMES:

The position of the Music and Gospel Fine Arts Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all instrumental and vocal arts activities for the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (RJKCCC). The Music and Gospel Fine Arts Manager works directly with the Arts and Education team relating to interdepartmental activities and programs and under the direction of the Arts and Education Director in making budgetary, curricular and programmatic decisions relating to Music/Fine arts programs in line with the mission of The Salvation Army.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the RJKCCC Managerial Team, provides leadership in administration, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide quality programming through arts and education.




  • Develop and implement a standardized curriculum for Kroc Center music programs. Utilize and implement a standard assessment tool for program participants to measure required outcomes.
  • Oversee coordination and development of class schedules, curriculum and fee schedules.
  • Establish relationships with local schools for the marketing of Kroc Center music programs. Recruit students from local schools, general community and existing Kroc Center programs.
  • Establish partnerships with universities and colleges. One goal is to utilize university students for student teaching assignments in the Kroc Center's music programs.
  • Develop systems that safeguard any and all facilities, supplies and equipment related to the Music/Fine Arts programs.
  • Recruit, train and supervise all Music/Fine arts department staff and volunteers.
  • Work with THQ Kroc Fine Arts liaison to ensure alignment of Territory mission objectives and standards.
  • Incorporate a spiritual discovery element into all music programming, in close coordination with Officer for Congregational Life.
  • Plan, implement and supervise Music/Gospel arts showcases. Establish and maintain performance ensembles, including but not limited to the three Music and Gospel Art defined areas of fine arts (i.e. brass, guitar, choral, & piano, drama & dance). This will include performances during Sunday morning worship services at The Chicago Kroc Center, as well as a Divisional and Territorial events as required.
  • Meet regularly with the Arts and Education Director and Officer for Congregational Life to coordinate critical operational issues associated with the Music/Gospel Arts programs and program space issues relating to their area of responsibility.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with other departments of the Kroc Center within the facility in which their programs operate.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
  • Must be flexible to work weeknights, weekends and holidays as needed.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position reports directly to Arts and Education Director

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES



  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Music, with three years experience required or equivalent combination of music education and work experience. Previous teaching experience required. . Master's Degree preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE: Three years management experience in a Performance/Fine Arts setting with progressive levels of responsibility: developing, planning, managing and supervising music programs.

JOB LIMITATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to do moderate physical work and must be able to lift 10 pounds. To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC. At times they will be expected to participate in community center activities. The work environment for this position includes a community center environment with a medium to high noise level. This employee may be required to drive on occasion.

PERFORMANCE MEASURMENTS:

This individual will be evaluated on how effective the outcomes of this position are achieved as well as the timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals.
