Job description
The (temporary) designer will work closely with the College of Education's marketing and communication team to design a variety of print and digital materials that adhere to the NC State brand and reinforce the college's visual brand identity. The person in the position must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrate a commitment to quality, work in a fast-paced environment with high standards, and maintain the integrity of the NC State brand. This position reports directly to the College of Education's executive director of marketing and communication.
Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and design a range of print materials, such as brochures, fact sheets, mailers, banners, reports, flyers, and promotional items, including T-shirts, on deadline
  • Design assets for digital platforms, including social media, presentations, email, and websites on deadline
  • Ensure all marketing and communication materials reflect well on the college and adhere to the NC State brand
  • Develop design templates, such as for presentations, social media and digital billboards, and provide training on their use for college faculty and staff
  • Serve as the liaison between the college and third-party print and merchandising vendors
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, University Communications, and the college's faculty and staff, including designing solutions that meet their needs
  • Prioritize tasks to handle multiple design jobs in an efficient and timely manner and meet all deadlines
  • Work with the marketing and communication team to ensure a consistent visual identity for the college that adheres to the NC State brand

Minimum Experience/Education
Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field, and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment
  • High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Requirements:

  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates experience working with brand guidelines and compelling visual design for both print and digital platforms
  • Excellent proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud (ie, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Knowledge of print and production processes
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality control
  • Ability to prioritize projects and work in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities
  • Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively and meet deadlines
  • A heart for education


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Preferred experience/skills

  • Familiarity with WordPress and designing custom emails and web pages
  • Familiarity with printing processes and ability to proof files for proper prepress
  • Proficient photography and videography skills
