Job Summary The Office of Career Services at Mesa Community College assists all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers in the development of career education, career identification, career decision-making, and the pursuit of employment opportunities. A Career Advisor at Mesa Community College (MCC) specializing in the creation, maintenance, and facilitation of workshops and presentations for internal and external partners focuses on enhancing students' professional development and career exploration. This role involves designing and delivering programs that equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate their career paths effectively. Perform other related duties as assigned. The Career Services Advisor position is designed to assist students with identifying a career path related to their interests, skillset, and academic program. Advise students on creating a career development plan which includes self-assessment, exploration, goal setting, and implementation leading to internship and employment. Use appropriate platforms to identify resources. Conduct workshops and classroom presentations and assist with planning career fairs and related events from implementation to completion. The Career Advisor will provide administrative support to the Career Services Manager. Essential Functions 40% Programming and Workshop Development

Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education B. Experience in student services or customer/employer-facing roles such as career services, student counseling, academic advising, student programming in a college/university setting, recruitment, or employer relation C. Experience with resume writing and development D. Demonstrated knowledge of video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft teams) E. Demonstrated ability to conduct presentations in-person and virtually to large and small groups F. Knowledge of employment markets, hiring trends, and marketing methods G. Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize simultaneous projects to meet deadlines while multitasking and managing multiple, ongoing programs and services H. Knowledge of internship and employment trends, including global and national opportunities for students I. Knowledge of career development, including career development resources, job search techniques and technologies, resume writing, interview preparation, employer relations, and professional development J.
