Units You May Float To Include:Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Stepdown, ICU, Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, Oncology, Neurology, and more!

Overview:

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Nurse Techs will perform advanced patient care skills, duties requiring additional education, training and/or competency validation independently. Additional duties may include:
- Blood cultures
- Enteral tube feeding
- Phlebotomy
- Staple/Suture removal
- Sterile technique- create/ maintain field
- Established Trach care/ suctioning- closed and open systems only
- Urinary catheter indwelling (M/F) removal
- Wound Care- nonsterile Dressing change
- Wound Care- Sterile dressing change
- IV removal
- Suture tray setup
- Chest tube setup
- Whirlpool baths for wound care
- Collection of Cultures
- Ostomy device change
- Wound vac cannister change

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. and enrolled in an approved or accredited nursing program. Prior to employment, the nurse tech shall provide student transcripts indicating they have completed Fundamentals of Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. This program is for nursing students only, if a student leaves a program for any reason, they can no longer be a nurse tech.
  • Certification: BLS Required within one month of hire.
  • Physical Requirements: Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
