WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Program Manager, Long Term Recovery Preparedness is responsible for developing and monitoring mechanisms, databases, and reports to track project status, budget, and issues, for coordinating project-related conferences with client staff and management, and for coordinating the work of data entry or other project support staff.

*This is limited term position that will go though January 2028.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Works closely with project managers and team members to develop, manage, and control multiple complex and inter-related project schedules utilizing current project management scheduling tools.
  • Provides day-to-day monitoring and coordination of one or more business projects. Analyzes and tracks critical path, major milestones, cost and resource allocations, and identifies issues, resolves routine issues, and recommends resolutions to more complex issues. May conduct quality control analysis, testing, surveys, etc. to determine if project deliverables meet established standards and client expectations, and prepare resultant findings reports, include recommendations for quality improvement.
  • Oversees project support staff, such as data entry, installation and technical support technicians, and the like, reviews support/technician work and provides guidance and correction as necessary. Provides input to project, unit and/or division manager regarding support/technician work performance. May participate in development of project deliverables and in testing/evaluation of completed aspects of project.
  • Coordinates ongoing communications between project staff and vendors, contractors, and client staff and management to obtain or provide information, coordinate issues resolution, and arrange meetings. Prepares project reports, meeting agendas, user documentation, and other project-related documents.
  • Typically has unit-specific responsibilities within the scope of the job.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED Minimum Qualifications):

Education - 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Additional training/coursework in project management principles preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years required

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.

Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

Experience in Project Management and emergency response a plus.
