Duties, Responsibilities & Other

    Manage and monitor all contract and task order work performed, budgets, costs, and contract performance for state, federal and other private contracts that provide construction management and inspection service for company clients in the facilities, site civil, and transportation industries.
  • Manage, lead, and supervise employees under your operational span of control.
  • Perform business development for new sources of company revenue to reach company strategic goals. Work with and guide marketing personnel in pursuits and opportunities.
  • Perform client visits and research to identify business opportunities for construction management and inspection services
  • Prepare proposals to clients for new contracts and task orders for existing contracts.
  • Prepare and review company invoices and review and approve pay applications from subcontracts.
  • Organize and run project and staff meetings such as Preconstruction, Quality, Progress, Safety and stake holders Updates.
  • Perform project management administration and duties of individual construction task orders and projects as may be required.
  • Provide contract administrative services and support.
  • Attend training, learn and utilize company financial systems to track project financial performance and information.
  • Perform recruiting and hiring of qualified personnel by preparing position descriptions and requisitions for project/company job opportunities and vacancies. Contact, interview and hire applicants for available positions.
  • Ensure safety awareness policy and procedure is practiced and safety training as needed is provided for employees and contractors under your supervision.
  • Ensure quality policy in place and procedure is practiced for employees and contractors under your supervision.
  • Carry out all job duties under the conformance with company policies, procedures, practices, guidelines, and strategic company goals provided.
  • Some familiarity and working knowledge with management of state agency contracts which are governed by the Virginia or other Department of General Services and or Department of Engineering and Buildings (DEB) is important and strongly preferred.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the application of requirements of architectural and engineering contracting manual terms and conditions the general conditions of the construction contract and the state Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM).

  • Familiar with and have working knowledge of state capital construction project forms and submission criteria for managing state agency construction projects strongly preferred.

  • Degree in Engineering or Architecture is required.
  • PE is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:
* Bachelor's Degree in related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 6 years of related professional experience, or 10 years of equivalent
professional experience.
* Experience should include a track record of expanding project management duties.
* Proven experience in project management roles, with a focus on managing larger-scale projects or programs.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
* Proficiency in project management software and tools, with the ability to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and
documentation.
* Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
* Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements effectively.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles to effectively manage project budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:
* Master's Degree in related field (AEC Industry)

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required:
* Ability to complete the KCI PM Training and Contract Risk Training along with passing the PM Board within 6 months of start date.

  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check is a condition of employment. A Motor vehicle check may be required based upon position.
