National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Group Function Rotations

Graduates in our Finance teams will take part in a 12-month exploration. Your first 6 months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following a broadening 6-month placement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

About the Position

As an Associate Management Analyst, you'll be part of a dynamic global team that's driving the future of clean energy. You'll gain hands-on experience in Controllership and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), contributing to strategic initiatives that support NGV's diverse US portfolio.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days a week in the Brooklyn, New York office, offering the ideal balance of in-person collaboration and remote flexibility.

What You'll Do

Get ready to dive into the fundamentals of accounting and finance! Here's what you'll be up to:

  • Learn & Support: Master the foundation of accounting and financial reporting as you assist with controllership activities, including complex accounting transactions and financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop Technical Skills: Apply accounting guidance to real-world business scenarios and challenges, sharpening your technical expertise.
  • Analyze & Contribute: Help tell the story of our business by analyzing financial performance, developing insights, and supporting strategic decision-making in FP&A.
  • Identify Trends & Solve Problems: Spot trends and patterns in financial data to help us understand performance, solve complex problems, and make smarter decisions.
  • Execute Key Financial Controls: Implement key financial controls to mitigate risks and safeguard the company's assets.
  • Support Audits: Assist in the coordination of financial and regulatory audits, collaborating with key stakeholders and gaining exposure to audit practices.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Play a key role in process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Cross-Functional Projects: Work on exciting cross-functional projects, including system implementations that drive transformation and innovation.
  • Collaborate Globally: Connect with a diverse network of stakeholders across the US and UK, enhancing your global perspective and contributing to a dynamic work environment.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited institution preferably in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • A curious and creative problem-solver who's not afraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Demonstrated accounting background through relevant coursework, internships, clubs, or projects.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills to help you turn data into clear, compelling stories
  • An analytical thinker and strong communicator, comfortable working with various stakeholders, data, and technology.
  • Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Brooklyn, NY $69,000 - $81,000 a year

You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
