Description |
This hybrid technical role provides cross-functional support to Zeeland's Quality, Production, and Engineering teams, with approximately 50% of time dedicated to small batch production of regulated finished goods. Serving as a bridge between quality assurance, production operations, and technical disciplines, the role blends elements of R&D scale production and Plant Chemist to ensure product quality, resolve process issues, and support continuous improvement across the site. |

Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides quality technical support across Zeeland's Quality, Production, and Engineering functions
- Approximately 50% of time devoted to small batch production of regulated specialty finished goods and 50% on laboratory quality support. This will follow standard procedures for producing GMP products
- Monitors product quality to ensure compliance with established standards, specifications, and engages in complex testing of finished goods.
- Provides technical support to the Process Engineers for time sensitive manufacturing requests, process hazard analysis, and failure mode engineering and analysis
- Runs new/complex chemistry processes according to customer requirements
- Operate laboratory equipment, analytical instrumentation, and lab process machinery including but not limited to viscometers, high pressure process equipment, GC, HPLC, and other analytical instrumentation
- Prepares chemical solutions for products and processes, following standardized formulas or developing experimental formulas for process improvement or product development.
- Maintains and calibrates laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accurate, reliable results. Maintains stock of supplies to support testing needs
- Develops and implements sampling and analysis programs to maintain quality standards for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Leads and/or support investigations and documentation of deviations and exceptions
- Collaborates with process engineers, production, plant chemist, and other technical staff to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identifies and resolves problems related to current manufacturing processes and materials
- Provide plant level technical support for new product introductions
- Support new and current analytical test method development and modifications and liaise with Quality department
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment through established housekeeping practices.
- Demonstrates proficient use of Delta V and Pi Processbook
- Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of the Aurorium Quality Management Systems per ISO/FDA and other regulatory agencies
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of plant operations and business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required. Advanced degree a plus
- Experience working in plant environment troubleshooting production processes
- Familiar with QC & QA functions
- 5+ years of industrial or laboratory experience in a related field
- 5+ years of experience working in a specialty chemical manufacturing and GMP-regulated environment
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with analytical testing equipment
- Ability to work in a controlled environment requiring special attention to environmental, health, and safety regulation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - written and verbal
- Reliable and trustworthy with the highest ethical standards and integrity
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve while still meeting strict deadlines
- Experience working with reactors, distillation, and general plant equipment
- Appropriate use and technique in HPLC, GC/MS, GC, viscometry
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: dilutions, purities, components, etc.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
- Ability to sit, stand and move around the facility
- Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds,
- Must have the willingness to work a non-standard shift
