Production Team Lead

Summary

The Production Team Lead role is responsible for ensuring production assembly cell is actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. The Production Team Lead provides directions to the fabrication cell and ensures safety, quality and delivery standards are always maintained. The Production Team Lead will fabricate products by using a variety of tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to correctly fabricate industrial belting products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with other teams leads to managing and prioritizing staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met
  • Coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements
  • Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the work cell
  • Report on problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to the Operations Manager
  • Work closely with support staff such as Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Planning & Warehouse to resolve issues
  • Understand and enforce company policies and procedures and work with manager to administer
  • Participate in daily management meeting
  • Lead daily stand-up meeting with team
  • Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work
  • Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities
  • Participate as an active member of the production assembly team and assembles products
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality System
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures
  • Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
  • Perform basic navigation within the ERP system (Navision) for order tracking, material tracking, consumption, summary output and rescheduling of orders


Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • High school Diploma, GED, Technical/Trade School or equivalent experience with 2 years supervision experience
  • Prior manufacturing work experience in operating machinery and using various hand tools
  • Ability to read and comprehend shop orders and working drawings written in English
  • Must be able to read and interpret measuring devices (tape measures, calipers, scales)
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and metric system
  • Must be able to work in the US
