JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State is searching for a full time Bakery Worker, Specialty Grade 8 - Grade 8 to join the team. Duties include:
  • Decorate round, layer, and sheet cakes using a variety of cake decorating tools and icing colors
  • Tag cakes for specific delivery locations
  • Mix primary food coloring to produce various colors of icing to decorate cakes
  • Scale, mix and bake proper number and size of batches for bakery dessert products following standardized formulas and procedures
  • Use table top mixer and scales. Record yields
  • Ensure completion of assigned work and maintain product quality work and sanitation
  • Operate and clean bakery equipment to include cookie machine, scales, pie equipment, table top mixer, make-up table, sheeter, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area including machines, table tops, utensils, equipment, sinks, etc.
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables according to established procedures
  • Assist supervisor in the performance of various manual functions required in the make-up, fabrication and finishing of all bakery products to include croissants, danish, cookies, cheesecakes, etc.
  • Assist other bakers and employees with other phases of make-up of bakery specialty product productions
  • Assist in training less skilled employees as assigned

Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Requires the simple use of formulas, charts, and tables to perform various functions in the make-up and fabrication of various bakery products.3 to 6 months of effective experience.

Work Schedule: 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Days Off: Saturday, Sunday
