This role supports the Director of Facilities in ensuring the hotel's building systems, utilities, and equipment operate at the highest level of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. The Assistant Chief Engineer helps oversee daily maintenance operations, supervises engineering staff, and ensures compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. You take pride in your craftsmanship, leadership, and teamwork, helping create an exceptional experience for every guest.



Essential Job Functions:


  • Deliver exceptional service and maintain a professional, proactive approach to all guest concerns and facility needs.



  • Assist the Director of Facilities in managing electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and general construction programs throughout the property.



  • Assign, oversee, and verify completion of maintenance and repair work across all building systems and guest/public areas.



  • Support the supervision, training, and performance of the engineering team, taking on the Director's responsibilities in his absence.



  • Coordinate with city and state officials to maintain all permits, inspections, and safety certifications.



  • Partner with vendors and contractors to ensure quality performance, compliance, and the latest technology in building operations.



  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and document all activities with precision.



  • Support budget management, cost control, and energy efficiency initiatives.



  • Maintain communication with all hotel departments to ensure timely response and operational readiness.





Hotel Specific:



  • Work in multiple outlets across the property.



Physical Demands:




  • Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. regularly; occasionally up to 100 lbs.



  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, instruments, and control systems.



  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and use lifts to work at heights up to 30 feet.



  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).



  • Work in confined spaces or extreme temperatures as needed (e.g., kitchens, mechanical rooms, freezers).





Qualifications:

Education:




  • Engineering degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.



  • Trade licenses (Electrical, HVAC/Refrigeration, Fire Safety, or Professional Engineering) preferred.




Experience:




  • Minimum five years of progressive maintenance or engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities.



  • Strong knowledge of building systems electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC.



  • Experience in hotel, resort, or large commercial facility maintenance preferred.



  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and chemical handling protocols.
