Job Summary and Responsibilities

Acentra is looking for an AI Portfolio Manager to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

Acentra Health's AI & Automation CoE is the enterprise hub for AI innovation and enablement. Our mandate is to prove value with production-grade pilots and then transfer successful solutions to business lines for scale. We operate a disciplined L0-L5 stage-gate (from intake to scaled adoption), act as the portfolio clearinghouse for AI initiatives, and partner closely with Product, the Transformation Office, Operations, Compliance, Security, and the AI Council. We build responsibly with privacy-first design, healthcare-grade quality, and measurable business impact across Medicare and Medicaid programs.

You'll own the AI initiative portfolio end-to-end - driving throughput, prioritization, and value realization across our stage-gates. You'll run the portfolio operating rhythm (intake, triage, resourcing, risk, dependencies, value tracking), enforce readiness and kill criteria, and orchestrate clean hand-offs to business lines for scale. This is a highly visible role interfacing with executives, product, engineering, finance, compliance, and state program teams.

Remote (Cary, North Carolina or Tysons Corner, Virginia highly preferred).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Run the portfolio: Operate the intake stage-gate cadence; maintain roadmap, capacity plans, and dependency maps across US/India teams
  • Value & benefits tracking: Co-own ROI baselines and realization with Finance/Transformation; drive post-implementation reviews and ensure lessons flow back into the funnel
  • Governance & readiness: Define/curate stage-gate artifacts, enforce kill criteria, and ensure readiness for hand-off to product/ops
  • Risk & issue management: Surface blockers early; align teams on mitigation; manage vendor/partner performance for portfolio outcomes
  • Transparency & Communications: Publish dashboards on cycle time, throughput, value, and quality; brief executives with crisp narratives
  • Responsible AI: Integrate AI Council policies (privacy, fairness, safety, security) into portfolio gates and delivery plans

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree highly preferred
  • 7+ years in portfolio/program management for tech, data, or AI
  • Proven stage-gate/PMO discipline and comfort making "kill-fast" decisions
  • Experience with value realization/benefits tracking and post-implementation reviews
  • Strong facilitation and executive communication; ability to align diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Agile at scale, product ops, and core AI/cloud concepts
  • Comfort working across time zones (US/India) and with partner vendors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare/regulated domain experience preferred
  • Relevant certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or similar
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Reside in Cary, NC or DC metropolitan area
