The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a highly qualified post-doctoral research fellow with expertise in primary cell culture, imaging, data analysis, and animal in vivo studies. A background in neuroscience and/or cell biology is preferred. Previous experiences in cell culture image analysis for whole-slide imaging are required.

Job Function:



  • Perform in vitro studies; manipulate cells with viral transduction, perform co-cultures of neurons and astrocytes, viability and invasion assays studies in glioma cells, western blots, immunoprecipitation, and confocal imaging.
  • Perform all necessary steps for cloning and lentivirus production.
  • Perform all necessary steps for image analysis and immunohistochemistry.
  • Breed animals, maintain colonies, genotype, perform in vivo viral injections, analyze mouse brains with immunohistochemistry, perform survival analysis.


Lab Mission:

The mission of the Al-Dalahmah laboratory is to define the states of glial pathology in multiple neurologic diseases including neurodegeneration and glioblastoma. We strive to employ this knowledge to develop novel therapeutic strategies to block progression of disease.

Minimum Education Requirements:



  • PhD or MD


Preferred Qualifications:



  • PhD degree in neurosciernce or cell biology


Minimum Skills Required:



  • Cell biology, molecular biology, imaging, primary cell culture
