We are seeking an experienced Substance Use Clinician to join Montefiore/UBA's interdisciplinary team supporting children and families within the child welfare system. Substance Use Consultants will provide assessments and consultations to families referred by our partners at the NYC Administration for Children's Services (ACS) in the Bronx. This is an exciting opportunity for a credentialed CASAC (MA preferred) with expertise in substance use disorders (SUD) and a strong understanding of the unique needs of families impacted by child welfare involvement.

Montefiore, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is nationally recognized for clinical excellence, research, and community partnerships that improve health outcomes across New York City. University Behavioral Associates (UBA), a part of Montefiore, is dedicated to providing innovative, evidence-based behavioral health and child welfare services to support children, families, and communities.

CSP clinical staff will be based at one of the following Bronx locations: 1200 Waters Place, 2100 Bartow Avenue, and 2501 Grand Concourse (with responsibilities at 1775 Grand Concourse). Staff may be expected to travel between locations at times. The typical shift is M-F from 8:30am-5pm but occasional evenings may be required.

About the Role

As a Substance Use Clinician, you will provide specialized assessments, consultations, and clinical guidance to support staff and teams working with families affected by substance use. Your work will ensure that service planning and interventions address both the safety of children and the treatment and recovery needs of caregivers.

We are hiring multiple Substance Use Clinicians, and are particularly interested in hiring staff experienced in working with both adolescents and adults.

This is a Union (1199) position. Starting salary is $34/ hour. Benefits are excellent, including generous time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, child care and tuition support, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of substance use needs, with attention to co-occurring mental health and family system dynamics.
  • Provide consultation to child welfare staff and supervisors, translating clinical findings into practical recommendations for case planning.
  • Offer guidance on appropriate referrals, treatment options, and community-based resources to ensure families receive effective, coordinated care.
  • Contribute specialized expertise in substance use and recovery during case discussions, conferences, and team meetings.
  • Document findings and recommendations with clarity, accuracy, and sensitivity to the needs of families and staff.

What We're Looking For

  • Credentialed CASAC (Master's degree in a related field strongly preferred; Bachelor's degree required)
  • 5+ years of professional experience, with direct work in substance use treatment and consultation
  • Experience working with families involved in child welfare or other high-need systems
  • Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, and evidence-based treatment models
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide clear, actionable clinical recommendations
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice
  • Lifespan experience (adolescents and adults) preferred
  • Spanish speaking preferred

Why Join Us?

  • Make a direct impact on child and family safety and well-being
  • Use your expertise to strengthen service delivery in complex child welfare cases
  • Collaborate with a passionate, interdisciplinary team of clinicians and consultants
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
  • A role where your specialized skills in substance use and recovery can change outcomes for vulnerable families
