Job Summary

The Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable department, leading a team of professionals to ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments while maintaining compliance with institutional policies. This role involves developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, fostering a collaborative work environment, and serving as a key liaison between departments to optimize financial workflows and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Lead a team of accounts payable professionals by providing direction, support, and performance evaluations to cultivate a high-functioning and motivated department.
Job Duty 2 - Develop and implement strategic policies and procedures for accounts payable operations that enhance efficiency and compliance with institutional standards.
Job Duty 3 - Oversee the management of vendor relationships by ensuring timely communication and resolution of any issues related to payments and services.
Job Duty 4 - Monitor financial transactions and reporting processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to budgeting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Job Duty 5 - Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in accounts payable practices.
Job Duty 6 - Analyze accounts payable data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, using insights to inform strategic decision-making and operational adjustments.
Job Duty 7 - Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to senior management that summarize accounts payable activities, highlight key performance indicators, and outline areas for enhancement.
Job Duty 8 - Serve as the primary point of contact for audit inquiries related to accounts payable, ensuring that all documentation is complete and readily available for review.
Job Duty 9 - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement, ensuring that accounts payable practices align with the overall financial objectives of the institution.
Job Duty 10 - Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

Other Required Qualifications
Certifications or licenses preferred for this job:

Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP)

Required Experience
3+ years of relevant experience; 1+ years of supervisory knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
o Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
o Microsoft Advanced Excel Certification

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

Proposed Salary

$63,303.00 - $82,274.00 Annual Compensation

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Specialized Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:

Familiar knowledge of automated invoicing system; invoice/document imaging system; IRS rules related to vendors, small businesses, contractors. Knowledge of 1099 MISC and 1099NEE requirements.

Expert in written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, people management, problem-solving, customer service, organization, strong attention to detail, interpersonal relationship building, and creativity skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population, ability to perform and effectively make important decisions under pressure.

Experience with Workday preferred.

Experience within a background of higher education, K12, or a state agency are preferred.

Management and supervisory skills are also considered as dynamic to this position
