Under supervision and within State, Federal and County developed programs and policies, this position licenses family and corporate foster care homes to support people with disabilities and seniors living in our community. It also supports the delivery of quality services within the foster care homes through on-going monitoring, evaluation and collaboration with license holders and resident teams.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related Human Services field
AND
* One year full-time professional OR Two years of para-professional experience in a human services agency
AND
* Valid Driver's License


Duties & Responsibilities

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

1. License family and corporate foster care homes according to state regulations.
2. Provide placement support and consultation to placing social workers and foster care license holders.
3. Investigate complaints in partnership with MAARC, DHS, Child/Adult Protection, etc., and provide follow-up to promote quality improvement.
4. Engage with potential license holders providers to evaluate their eligibility, strengths and needs.
5. Maintain and apply knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, statutes and professional practice.
6. Complete agency, state, and federal required documentation according to mandated timelines.
7. Demonstrates a commitment to support cultural diversity County wide, actively supports the County's diversity initiatives, and works to address the needs of diverse and underrepresented communities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment

  • Knowledge of Home and Community Based Services statues, rules and policy.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, medications, and diagnoses for people with disabilities and seniors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the complex needs of people with various disabilities and seniors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer software and information systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, person-centered interviewing and active listening skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to function well in unpredictable and challenging situations calling for sensitivity, flexibility, resourcefulness, and independent judgment.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and respect for the diversity of customers, co-workers, and supervisors, including individuals with a disability or whose first language may be other than English.
  • Knowledge of county and community resources.
  • Knowledge and understanding of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access principles and practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a hybrid model with telework and work in a County office building and at licensed sites. Some travel is required. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Exposure to inadequate lighting and intense noise may occur on site visits. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, printer, telephone, calculator, and copy and fax machines
