We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Planning department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Planner. The work schedule is 0700 to 1600 with 60 min lunch.

1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

Provides accurate work specifications and change orders in accordance with Government guidelines and standards using Work Notifications (WN),drawings and technical documents

POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

Typically has aBA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus two (2) years' directly related experience, or six (6) years' directly related experience.

POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)

• Must have a working Knowledge of Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) Planning and Execution Modules.
• Must possess the ability to read/reviewdrawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications of work items.
• Must have shipboard familiarization/ability to check
• Must have Secret Clearance.
• Must be familiar with working in a navy ship repair environment.
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Must possess expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines or groups and resolve planning conflicts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Planning Manager and interfaces with Trades, Production Management, Estimating, Scheduling, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, and the customer. Will be informed of priorities and allowed to schedule work as necessary to complete required tasks within guidelines provided by the Supervisor. This position has no direct reports.

1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop (prepare/write/revise), issue and distribute assigned planning documents, procedures and work items in accordance with all applicable instructions, directives and procedures.
• Conduct ship-checks as required.
• Create NMD availabilities and Work Specification Items.
• Integrate, review, and validate planning process with primary parties and government affiliations on a weekly basis to ensure compliance.
• Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to the government for processing.
• Conduct meetings to inform key personnel of planning updates.
• Work closely with Estimators and Schedulers to ensure all information is represented appropriately to produce an integrated planning schedule.

Produce accurate and complete work specifications and changes in support of Availabilities and special projects.

1. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation.Must be a U.S. citizen and have a security clearance. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required.Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility.Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment. These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy.
