Title: Chief Financial Officer Location: Alexandria, VA US Citizenship: Required Clearance: TS/SCI Position Summary: The CFO will be a trusted executive leader within Invictus, reporting directly to the CEO, and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team. The individual will lead all accounting functions, drive financial strategy, ensure robust internal controls, and support our government-contracting business model. This role requires deep competence in accounting, financial analysis, cost accounting for government contracts, FAR/DFARS compliance, and financial risk management in a government contractor (GovCon) setting. The CFO will partner with business leadership to scale operations, optimize profitability, interface with external auditors/regulators, and provide timely, accurate financial information to drive strategic decisions. Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the full spectrum of GovCon accounting operations, including general ledger management, job cost accounting, indirect rate structure, project/contract accounting, revenue recognition under federal contracts, government billing (T&M, CPFF, CPAF, FP-LOE), cash flow management, treasury functions, budgeting, and forecasting
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal contracting regulations and cost accounting requirements, including FAR Part 31, CAS, DFARS Business System criteria, and agency-specific guidance; proactively manage and support all audits (DCAA, DCMA, external audit firms, and internal compliance reviews)
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with a GovCon growth environment, incorporating financial modeling, indirect rate optimization, forward pricing rate projections, scenario planning, capital structure analysis, and enterprise risk management to support long-term competitiveness in the federal marketplace
- Direct the annual operating budget process and long-range financial planning cycles, delivering timely, accurate financial reporting and actionable insight to executive leadership
- Establish and continuously strengthen internal controls, compliant financial policies, accounting procedures, and government-approved business systems, ensuring audit-readiness and scalability during rapid growth
- Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, accountability, and compliance, aligned with the company's mission, values, and commitments to its federal customers
- Serve as primary financial liaison to external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, investors, regulatory bodies, and government oversight agencies such as DCAA and DCMA
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support key business decisions, including M&A evaluations, joint venture structures, capital investment, indirect rate management, and infrastructure scaling to enable sustainable federal contract growth
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (Master's or MBA preferred) and a minimum of 10+ years of progressive senior accounting leadership experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Must be located in the National Capitol Region, with the ability to commute to the office daily
- Demonstrated role as CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent in a GovCon setting
- Strong depth in GAAP, financial analysis, forecasting, modeling, and cost accounting in government contracting
- Experience with contract accounting for major federal contracts (e.g., DOD, intelligence community, classified programs) and working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, business partnering and communication skills; ability to distill complex financial/accounting information for senior leadership
- Proven track record of improving processes, implementing systems, driving financial discipline and supporting high-growth businesses
- Experience working in an intelligence or defense contracting environment, including classified contract compliance and audit readiness
- Experience with growth through capture/proposals, M&A, integration of acquisitions, scaling finance/accounting operations
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

- Current TS/SCI clearance preferred, or the ability to obtain and maintain one
