Position Title: Production AssistantCompensation: $15.00 - 16.26Department: University Media ServicesStart Date: 12/15/2025About this opportunity: Ball State University welcomes applications for a Production Assistant.Ball State University Media Services provides internal and external clients with impactful, high-quality productions for educational, promotional, and corporate projects. Our state-of-the-art facilities enable our Production staff to continue to learn and grow professionally, and help students learn proper workflows and techniques. The Production Assistant is an integral part of the Production team, and assists on a variety of projects. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the United States without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function:Operate production equipment (such as Ross Xpression, Grass Valley cameras, switchers and replay, audio boards, and others) during broadcasts of Ball State home sporting events on ESPN and other platforms, and for video board productions. Perform audio/video duties such as camera operations, lighting, and editing for remote and studio productions. Duties & Responsibilities:1. Operate graphics equipment for broadcast and videoboards at on-campus venues. 2. Operate other production equipment (such as switchers, replay, cameras, and audio) for broadcast and videoboards at on-campus venues. 3. Edit video tape for program production, underwriter announcements, promos, and other assignments. 4. Operate field equipment to record footage for program production, underwriting announcements, promos, and other assignments. 5. Assist with set up, strike, and preparation of studio and remote productions. 6. Coordinate students for UMS production requests, including monitor progress on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule; serve as a mentor for student assigned projects, with the quality of these projects being reviewed and judged by the Production Manager. 7. Log times and equipment booking using Xytech Media Operations; track all hours spent on specific projects for billing purposes; track and book all equipment to be used for projects using Xytech software. 8. May be required to travel and assist in transporting equipment. 9. Operate audio during studio or remote productions. 10. Perform other related duties as assigned. 11. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree or equivalent in broadcast operations, telecommunications technology or related field. One through three years' experience in related TV operation functions. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in broadcast operations, telecommunications technology or related field. Additional years of experience.
