Your Role at Cabot

Cabot Corporation is seeking an Associate Director to join the Corporate Strategy & Development team at the Boston, MA location.

The Associate Director, Corporate Strategy and Development will work with other members of the Corporate Strategy team and Executive Committee to support the execution of Cabot's corporate strategy goals and global M&A agenda. Leads financial analyses, conduct cross-functional work to provide counsel and recommendations backed by facts and data analysis. Leads and manages projects at the request of senior business leaders and the Executive Committee in support of global business objectives for both inorganic and organic growth initiatives.

This role is based at the Boston, MA location, but is eligible to participate in the current Hybrid Working Arrangement program (Monday/Friday remote and Tuesday-Thursday in office).



How You Will Make an Impact

    Support the Vice President of Corporate Strategy, and the Head of Strategy to execute Cabot's M&A agenda
  • Work in close collaboration with global business teams and functional leaders to lead M&A project management; conducting due diligence, valuation and financial analysis, participating in negotiations, integration planning and execution, and presenting recommendations to Executive Committee and business leadership for approval
  • Lead cross-business efforts to build and maintain a robust M&A pipeline that supports Cabot's long-term strategic imperatives and business priorities.
  • Build internal relationships to drive alignment on M&A processes, priorities and other critical execution-related topics with stakeholders across corporate and regional functions
  • Perform comprehensive financial modeling and analysis to evaluate investment opportunities, delivering strategic and highly impactful recommendations on valuation, integration potential, and overall financial attractiveness of identified investments
  • Provide and regularly maintain comparable peer group analysis to support corporate strategy and investor relations
  • Interface with and develop & maintain relationship with bankers and financial advisors


What You Will Bring to Cabot

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Sciences or Economics/ Finance/ Business; MBA or CFA charter holder or CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in investment banking or consulting/ corporate strategy / corporate development roles with deal experience.
  • Strong understanding of/experience with end-to-end M&A process is a must
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial / chemicals industry organization preferred
  • Expert knowledge of financial principles and their applications in a business setting (including understanding of accounting principles, forecasting, and valuation).
  • Ability to build and interpret financial models, develop business case scenarios, and analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends and deliver actionable insights
  • Ability to build trust, gain alignment, collaborate, and guide diverse teams within a global matrix organization.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects; Serve as a key resource and thought leader to the company to solve or assist with critical business analysis of exceeding difficulty or complexity.
  • Demonstrates a strong command of verbal, written and presentation skills that ensure effective information delivery to all stakeholders.
  • Must be comfortable presenting information to senior leadership and Executive Committee, networking for deal origination and leading cross functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and M&A implications to inform corporate growth strategies.

How We'll Support Your Success:

  • The pay range for this role is from $161,500 to $234,200. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skill, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, all positions are eligible for health benefits on the first day of employment, 401K savings plans, vision, dental and annual bonus based on company performance.
