OVERVIEW
The Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Driver is responsible for providing best in class inventory support for IEWC customers within the service area. The VMI Driver works closely with customers and partners with IEWC team members to maintain optimal inventory levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure appropriate customer stock levels by monitoring and reviewing inventory, generate new orders for merchandise when needed, and obtain customer approval to place orders when required
- Provide communication and feedback to IEWC sales representatives and supervisor as appropriate to ensure full customer satisfaction
- Have a full understanding of the best way to ship material, utilizing proper route optimization.
- Perform daily delivery of materials to customer sites within defined territory
- Maintain company vehicle and shipping equipment in a clean and orderly way
- Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Participate in continuous improvement activities by constantly looking for ways to make processes more efficient or provide higher levels of customer satisfaction
- Will be required to analyze, pack and load material to be delivered to ensure accuracy
- Assists with loading and unloading material at the customer locations, checking to ensure accuracy of shipments
- Completes performance reporting, as appropriate
- Maintains driver logs and vehicle inspection sheets. Provides for regular maintenance and cleaning of vehicles. Schedules DOT/state mandated inspection visits, as required
- Completes truck summary and other backup detail daily and forwards all the information to the corporate office on a weekly basis in order to be processed timely, pay truck expenses and update appropriate records
- Utilizes SAP to monitor VMI delivery status and manage labeling requirements
- Perform warehouse functions including, but not limited to, order filling, stocking shelves, processing returns, receiving and shipping as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Associates degree or at least 3 years of customer service or equivalent job-related experience required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 80% of the time within territory; may include occasional overnight travel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Strong time management and organizational skills required plus the ability to multitask.
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills while analyzing information in day-to-day operations
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders
- Ability to work in Windows environment and learn multiple computer applications (SAP, One note, Outlook)
- Ability to work under pressure and to make decisions autonomously
