What You'll Do:

This internship opportunity is designed for students interested in gaining experience within McGough's Safety team. Your job responsibilities will include:



  • Assist site safety managers and coordinators with daily safety observations, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with McGough's safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Help track and document safety metrics, incident reports, and near-miss observations. Support data entry into safety management systems such as HammerTech.
  • Support the coordination of safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientations for new employees and trade partners.
  • Participate in the rollout and improvement of safety programs, procedures, and initiatives across projects.
  • Assist in identifying potential hazards, performing job hazard analyses (JHAs), and supporting the development of pre-task planning documentation.
  • Observe and learn how to gather facts, photographs, and witness statements to assist in incident and near-miss investigations.
  • Contribute to safety campaigns, recognition programs, and continuous improvement initiatives that reinforce McGough's commitment to a proactive safety culture.
  • Maintain and organize safety documentation, permits, and records for compliance and internal auditing purposes.
  • Additional responsibilities will vary based on the needs of the Vice President of Safety and overall team.

What Makes You a Great Fit:



  • A sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations preferred, but not required.
  • Interest in learning about construction operations and how safety integrates into project delivery.
  • A team player who's also self-motivated and ready to step up and lead when the moment calls for it.
  • A strong communicator, both in writing and in conversation, who can get your ideas across clearly.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with safety software (e.g., HammerTech, Procore) is a plus.

Office & Travel:

Office Location: Corporate HQ, Roseville, MN

Travel: Willingness to work on active construction sites and travel to project locations, events, and company activities as needed - it's all part of the experience!

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time at employee's workstation and during meetings as well as while traveling, either by plane or car. Employee needs to be able to lift up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and ability to distinguish between colors on graphs and charts.

Occasionally, employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is an hourly rate of $20.00 - $26.00, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer.

McGough offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package for full-time employees. For Interns, we offer medical, retirement, PTO and holiday pay.
