Michigan Technological University's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for an instructional-track Assistant Teaching Professor position. We seek candidates with expertise in aerospace and/or mechanical engineering in general, particularly in vehicle dynamics, systems engineering, thermal engineering, structures, and internal combustion engines. This candidate will be expected to help with advising industry-funded senior design projects. Responsibilities and Essential Duties
|
* Teach undergraduate and graduate mechanical and aerospace engineering courses. * Lead and/or advise student teams in Sr. Design or Enterprise. * Department duties may include service on committees, conducting outreach activities, and assisting with department assessment responsibilities.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
|
* PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
|
Required Experience
|
* Classroom teaching experience. * Expertise in mechanical and/or aerospace engineering or a closely related field.

Desirable Education and/or Experience
|
* Teaching mechanical and/or aerospace engineering courses on a variety of topics.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
|
* Ability to teach a range of mechanical and/or aerospace engineering topics
|
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
|
* Ability to advise a Sr. Design or Enterprise team. * Project management or Systems engineering experience. * Ability to use a learning management system to manage course schedules and teaching materials. * Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment
|
Every employee at Michigan Technological University will receive the following four required pieces of training; additional training may be required by the department.
