CPS is seeking a
Senior Financial Analyst that will report to the Finance Director. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role on the college's finance team by owning the revenue model for the College, analyzing all key financial data, and providing financial oversight and recommendations based on financial trends.
Responsibilities include:
- Assists the Finance Director in the development of the annual budget for the college by preparing multi-year budget projections, revenue models and resource allocation recommendations; reviews and analyzes expense and revenue data monthly for year-end forecasts and recommends corrective action during the year if needed. Prepares budget reports, ad-hoc reports, builds financial models and responds to other requests for financial information.
- Owns the development of financial models for key strategic and financial activities including new program initiatives, Executive Education programs etc.; completes extensive reporting, including budget reports for several departments, ad-hoc reports, and other requests for financial information; works with sponsored project staff and CPS faculty to administer labor and effort changes related to sponsored projects as needed.
- Owns the A-Z of faculty compensation from budgeting, tracking, forecasting, managing variance, and reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Works with the Financial Analyst to review financial performance monthly, and identify variances from budget.
- Assists the Financial Analyst as needed to prepare monthly financial reports for departmental managers. Meets with the Finance Director and managers as needed to review results, ensure all transactions are being reported accurately, and to discuss variances from budget. Works with the Finance Director to lead the annual profitability analysis for CPS by program. Coordinates transfers of funds between University divisions in accordance with commitments of support.
- Promotes awareness of and compliance with university financial management policies within CPS. Recommends enhancements and implements procedures and policies that govern financial activities across the college to provide effective resource management and ensure consistency with University policies.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to this position.
This is a hybrid position with some days in the office in Washington, DC and some days remote. |
| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

| Preferred Qualifications: |
- Strong experience in financial modeling, budget planning, and budget administration for a complex organization with multiple heterogeneous revenue streams.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel. Expertise in building financial models, analyzing and manipulating large, complex data sets to identify financial trends and downstream implications of proposed financial changes.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to communicate complex financial information succinctly to colleagues with varying finance backgrounds.
- Proficiency using enterprise systems such as Oracle Financials and Banner, and software such as UKG (timekeeping), Concur (travel and expense) and Axiom (financial management). Familiarity with dashboard software such as Tableau.
- Work experience in higher education/non-profit and familiarity with sponsored research.
- Experience working with faculty.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and set priorities and goals.
