Job Summary

Performs a full range of marketing activities, including coordinating events and developing and implementing promotional strategies, materials, and products designed to promote awareness within the medical community and to the general public about department services and programs. Has a full understanding of industry practices and campus and / or medical center policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $160,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF is one of the nation's top academic neurosurgery centers - home to leading physicians and scientists dedicated to treating patients with neurosurgical disorders and to the search for better therapies and cures.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • 3+ years related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the campus and medical center, including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives and infrastructure
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding source
  • Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills
  • Strong skills in event and media activities management
  • Skill in mentoring less experienced staff

Preferred Qualifications


  • Thorough knowledge of the campus and medical center products and services
  • Thorough analytical and written communication skills
