Basic Job Functions:

Performs all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds, in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner. Ability to read schematics and basic electronic troubleshooting. Vacuum troubleshooting and leak detection skills. Assists in the plans and schedules of daily work assignments for maintenance technicians. Mentors' junior technician in repair and procedures. Writes procedures for specifications on repairs when requested. Responsible for the accurate and complete reporting of all work performed on their shift, in the CMMS system. Reports directly to the shift maintenance supervisor. Checks and approves all work upon completion of work orders. Works overtime when necessary to train and certify junior technicians.

Education/Experience:

High school graduate with one or more of the following:

2-year technical school in Electrical and Maintenance field OR

2-year associate degree or equivalent program in a technical discipline OR

8+ year's maintenance experience required OR

5 years' experience with Degree in a mechanical or electrical discipline.

70% completion of First Solar online training.

Required Skills/Competencies:

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.

Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Basic understanding of SPC and Process Control Techniques.

Project Leader and previous supervisory experience is a plus.

Proven Communications Skills (written and verbal).

Ability to read prints and suggest modifications as required.

Proven Electro/Mechanical skills.

Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, Vacuum Systems and Laser operations.

Knowledge of Building Codes.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Repair of all manufacturing equipment current and future and/or ability to understand such equipment to the point of effective troubleshooting.
  • Mentors' junior technicians in the on-site service and repair of process equipment, and as necessary the maintenance of the facility. Communicates parts inventory levels.
  • Assists in evaluating and certifying Junior technicians for promotions and training.
  • Sets the example for all maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and servicing of all energy sources for all equipment and implements the preventative maintenance program.
  • Collaborates with other departments and vendors.
  • Follows standard OSHA, EPA and Company safe practices on all work assignments.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost savings.
  • Is responsible for the training of maintenance technicians.
  • Ensures that all work is recorded in CMMS and all work orders are complete including the documentation of spares, labor, and downtime.
  • Attends pass down/ shift meetings to communicate any and all work-related information on completed and in progress work from the previous shift.
  • Performs other assignments as required by his supervisor and manager.
  • Substitutes for the Lead when needed.
  • Assists Equipment Engineer with projects.

  • $29.33-$41.83

  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
