Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Planning - Real Estate Development & Facilities.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading planning and related space management functions enterprise wide. Reporting to the Vice President of Design and Construction, RED+F, the Director will play a vital role in all aspects of planning and implementing progress toward the Health Systems campus and facilities goals.

Job Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and evaluate alternative strategies for solving complex planning problems in the context of campus-wide space and facility constraints, real estate opportunities, strategic objectives, and institutional needs;
  • Work in partnership with NYULH strategy and business development teams to translate projected clinical volumes into functional programs;
  • Conduct research and gather data from a variety of sources, including prior feasibility or planning studies, to inform a current investigation or study;
  • Prepare presentations to NYULH executive leadership, placing a specific project or issue in the context of the organizations strategic goals;
  • Manage a portfolio of multiple small and large-scale planning studies. Projects may range from something as modest as a study of bicycle parking to the analysis of alternatives for the development of a substantial new building;
  • Facilitate meetings and other sessions to elicit input and feedback regarding a project, leading charrettes, visioning sessions, and group work in the development of a plan.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in planning and design, architecture in real estate/ facilities development, or a related field
  • Strong planning expertise, oral and written presentation skills, and highly-developed communication skills are essential to success in this role
  • Experience in an academic medical center environment a plus
  • Ability to synthesize information from many sources
  • Capacity and initiative to function independently, assuming ownership and responsibility for projects and the ability to follow-through without regular supervision or prompting
  • Leadership to drive projects and work collaboratively with diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives and deliver results
  • Proficiency with the technology and media necessary to communicate and reach our constituents in a manner that is open, accessible, and clear
  • Discipline, maturity, and composure necessary to perform professionally within a demanding environment and navigate a challenging and ever-changing landscape

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $213,477.56 - $314,879.97 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
